Special Events

From the deck of a pirate ship to a theme park to a sports arena, HGP has produced a wide range of special events, each unique in its design and objectives. Here are a few examples:

  • LEGOLAND California

LEGOLAND CaliforniaFor LEGOLAND California, HGP was engaged to produce the media opening of the park, an interactive exhibit staged in connection with the Rose Bowl Parade, the LEGO corporate Dream Party to reward LEGO employees, and the month-long “Kidvention” celebration in the LEGOLAND park.

  • JCC Maccabi Games

JCC Maccabi GamesTo entertain and inspire an audience of 8,000 at the Opening Ceremonies of the weeklong JCC Maccabi Games teen athletic competitions, HGP proposed a seamless, creative throughline “for, by and about the teens.” The non-stop show included audience participation during walk-in, dramatic shofar blasts to signal the event’s start, Munich 11 athletes tribute, videos, oaths, San Diego mayoral presentation, torch lighting, invocation, parade of 2,000 in 44 delegations, and a “Reach the Beach” themed production number featuring 75 young performers, giant costumed sea creatures, skateboarders and stunt bikers.

  • Fortune 500 CEO Birthday

Fortune 500 CEO BirthdayTo celebrate a milestone birthday for a Fortune 500 CEO, HGP was called on to interrupt the festivities with a surprise Pirate Attack onboard the schooner Star of India. Our authentically-costumed, custom-scripted and daringly choreographed pirates (one of whom was forced to walk the plank into chilly San Diego Bay) enthralled the guests and the surprised birthday boy.

  • Starwood Global Conference

Starwood Global ConferenceFor the annual Starwood Global Conference, HGP was challenged to conceive and execute a multi-sensory nighttime experience to showcase the company’s presence in Bali, China, India, Japan and Thailand, and to dazzle Starwood’s top managers who have “been there, done that”.

By transforming a large parking lot into an experiential Asian-Pacific paradise with unique and interactive environments, every guest was “transported” to five exotic locales. Using scenic pieces, indigenous plants, authentic décor, entertainment and cuisine, we created a distinct character for each region that wowed the 2,000 guests.

  • BODIES THE EXHIBITION

BODIES THE EXHIBITIONWith an emphasis on the “special” in “special events”, HGP was engaged to manage the San Diego presentation of the internationally-acclaimed BODIES THE EXHIBITION. Our responsibilities included transforming an empty department store into a first-class museum space, hiring and supervision of all personnel (operations, box office, education, retail and maintenance), all business aspects, and helping to market and promote the blockbuster event which attracted more than 287,000 visitors during its year-long run.
